Hi. My name is Olivia Halevy and I graduated in the Spring of 2017 from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont with a degree in Media Journalism and Digital Arts, and a minor in Literature. I am currently the Assistant Editor of lifestyle at Patch.com, an online news publication based in New York City.
I assist the lifestyle editor in creating timely and seasonal lifestyle content regarding topics such as holidays, travel, interior design, entertainment, food and drink, etc. I am also responsible for crafting and writing business spotlight articles for clients who advertise on the site, as well as sponsored content pieces. Some other various day-to-day tasks include working with social media, promoting content on the site, researching trends and brainstorming new content ideas. (Take a look at some of my work at Patch here.)
In addition, I also work with our Branded Content team who partners with Amazon to create e-commerce articles on a wide variety of topics and products, as well as curating and writing Patch's holiday gift guides. I've also assisted in writing and updating articles and commerce deals during Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday helping Patch surpass their goal in revenue.
I also had an internship at Westchester Magazine, a lifestyle magazine in Rye, NY, where I was able to write blogs and articles for both the online and print versions of the magazine. Some other duties included fact checking, researching, interviewing, and assisting in a few photo shoots.
One of my biggest accomplishments to date was co-authoring and publishing a book for my senior thesis “TMI: An Exploration of Parents Oversharing in the Digital Age”. Ever since I was young, I have always excelled in writing and english classes. When I entered college, I was able to apply these skills to my major and deepen them through creating blogs, writing articles, designing websites, putting together photo stories, exploring creative writing and ultimately writing my book.
Growing up, I was a competitive figure skater. From ages 5-17, I passed 16 figure skating tests and received a double gold medal from the United States Figure Skating Association. Being so involved in the sport taught me a lot of life skills like dedication, balance, and time management— all skills that I have applied and continue to apply to both my personal life and professional career.
Thanks you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. All of the topics above plus more are included throughout my site which I welcome you to take a look through.
